Hadith No: 28 Narrated/Authority of Ibn Abbas
When the Messenger of Allah sent Mu’adh to Yemen as governor, he told him to first teach the people of the Book about worshipping Allah. Once they understand this, Mu’adh should then instruct them that Allah has commanded them to pray five times a day. After they start praying, Mu’adh should inform them that they are required to give Zakat, which will be taken from the wealthy and given to the needy. Mu’adh should collect the Zakat from them and not take the best items from their wealth.
