From Hadith No 442 to 451

Hadith No: 442 Narrated/Authority of Humran

I brought Uthman b. ‘Affan the water for ablution. He did ablution and said: People say the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said something. I don’t know what he said, but I know I saw the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) do ablution like mine. Then he said: If you do ablution like this, all your past sins will be forgiven and your prayer and going to the mosque will have extra reward. In another tradition, Ibn ‘Abda said: “I went to Uthman and he did ablution.”

Hadith No: 443 Narrated/Authority of Abu Anas

Uthman performed ablution at Maqi’aid. He said, “Should I not show you the ablution performed by Allah’s Messenger?” Then he washed the different parts of the body three times. Qutaiba added in his narration, “There were Companions of Allah’s Messenger with Uthman.”

I used to get water for ‘Uthman so he could clean himself. Every day, he would take a bath with a small amount of water. ‘Uthman said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) told us about purification when we were coming back from prayer. Mis’ar said: I think it was the afternoon prayer. He said: I don’t know if I should tell you something or not. We said: Messenger of Allah, please tell us if it’s good. If it’s not, Allah and His Apostle know better. He said: A Muslim who cleans himself properly and prays will have his sins forgiven between those prayers.

During the time when Bishr was the governor, I heard Humran b. Aban narrate to Abu Burda in this mosque. ‘Uthman b. Alfan said that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed that if someone completes ablution as Allah commanded, their obligatory prayers would help erase minor sins between them. Ibn Mu’adh transmitted this hadith, while Ghundar’s narration omits the mention of Bishr’s governorship and the obligatory prayers.

Hadith No: 446 Narrated/Authority of Humran

The freed slave of Uthman said: Uthman b. Affan performed ablution perfectly. He saw Allah’s Messenger perform the best ablution. He said: If someone does ablution like this and goes to the mosque without any other reason than the love of prayer, all their previous minor sins will be forgiven.

Hadith No: 447 Narrated/Authority of Humran

According to ‘Uthman b. ‘Affan, he heard Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) say that if someone properly performs ablution for prayer and then goes to observe obligatory prayer with other people in the mosque, Allah will forgive their sins.

The Messenger of Allah said that performing five daily prayers, from one Friday prayer to the next, and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan can make up for sins committed in between, as long as one avoids major sins.

Hadith No: 451 Narrated/Authority of Uqba bin Amir

We were told to take care of the camels. When it was my turn, I brought them back from the pastures in the evening. Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) was standing and talking to the people. I heard him say these words: If a Muslim does ablution well, stands, and prays two rak’ahs with his heart and face, he will be guaranteed Paradise. I said: This is great! Another person who spoke before me said: The first thing was even better. When I looked, I saw it was ‘Umair who said: I see you just came and noticed: If anyone of you does ablution, completes it well, and says: I testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger, the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he can enter through any of them.
